What’s Under Our Patios?

Pitch
No one wants to risk water entering their home. During heavy rain, water can collect on patios or walkways if not properly designed. That’s why all of our patios, walkways, and stoops are carefully pitched away from the house to ensure proper runoff. We use a standard pitch of 1.5 inches over every 10 feet, helping direct water safely away from your home.

Efflorescence?
Over the first few weeks or months, you may notice a white haze forming on the surface of your pavers. This is a natural phenomenon called efflorescence. It can appear randomly or in specific areas and tends to be more noticeable on darker-colored pavers. While it might look like the paver color is fading, that’s not the case — the haze disappears when the pavers are wet, revealing their true color, and reappears once they dry.

Efflorescence appears as it emerges from the pores of a concrete paver, visible here in a magnified view. Water carries dissolved calcium salts from within the paver to the surface, where they crystallize and form the characteristic white haze.
Company FAQS
If you have sprinklers in the area, we’ll ensure they are relocated to the outside of the patio. This prevents any sprinkler lines from being buried under the base, making future repairs easier if a line ever breaks. Please note that we are not a sprinkler company — if you need to adjust or relocate the system after your project is completed you are responsible to hire company. If your project has a large number of lines in the way, we may cut and label them to the best of our ability to assist the sprinkler company with their work.
